A bit of history about Putrid Pete's Peak
Thanks to a note from a member of SummitPost (www.summitpost.org) I learned that P3 (Putrid Pete's Peak) is named to honor Pete Schoening - if the phrase "The Belay" means anything to you, that's Pete's. His legendary belay saved the lives of several climbers. Apparently the last few feet are a Class 3 scramble but from where we stopped, it looked easier than that. I could easily be wrong.
